Veterans Day

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gl7dnrRkaEI

On this Veterans Day, and every day of my life, I love my Pop because
He proposed to my Mother via the most romantic telegram ever, which she lovingly accepted.
He welcomed me into this life without hesitation at a time of financial struggle.
He put himself last when providing for his beloved family.
He got me my first puppy and taught me how to love and care.
He worked tirelessly to provide holiday gifts he could not afford but made do nevertheless.
He helped me win the Boxcar Derby with his engineering prowess.
He provided me with an exciting new environment filled with adventures, creeks, trees, and the wild, in which to thrive and to know and love nature.
He accepted his gay son unconditionally and without hesitation.
He taught me work ethic and pride.
He survived the passing of our beloved Jim and showed us that life can go on.
He taught me to go around pain rather than stand in its puddle.
He clung to me in the dark hours of near-death.
He held steadfast in the midst of losing the love of his life, my Mother.
He survived cancer and can still run circles around me.
He remains healthy and wealthy with love and grace.
He is an honorable man.
He is and will always be my hero.

To my Pop with love and undefinable pride
